Terms of Service

1. Who We Are

ScholarXcel is an academic planning platform developed by CISD Nigeria to help Nigerian university students plan their grades, track their CGPA, and discover scholarships and internship opportunities. References to "we", "us", or "our" in these Terms refer to CISD Nigeria and the ScholarXcel platform.

2. Eligibility

To use ScholarXcel you must:

• Be a student currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Nigerian university, polytechnic, or college of education.
• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
• Have the authority to enter into a binding agreement under Nigerian law.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:

• Notify us immediately at support@scholarxcel.ng if you suspect unauthorised access.
• Use a strong, unique password and not share it with anyone.
• Provide truthful information during onboarding, including your institution, programme, level, and academic results.
• Not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ScholarXcel only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload falsified result sheets, transcripts, or academic documents.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the platform.
• Use the platform to harass, spam, or defraud other users.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or to our systems.
• Use automated bots, scripts, or crawlers without our prior written consent.
• Violate any applicable Nigerian or international law.

5. Academic Data & AI Features

ScholarXcel's AI features (result sheet import, opportunity matching) are provided as decision-support tools. We make no guarantee that:

• CGPA calculations or grade projections are perfectly accurate. They are estimates based on the data you provide.
• Opportunity eligibility assessments reflect the official requirements of any third-party scholarship or internship programme.
• AI-extracted data from your uploaded documents is error-free. You should always review and confirm extracted grades before saving.

You retain full ownership of the academic data you upload. By uploading documents you grant us a limited licence to process them solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

6. Opportunities & Third-Party Links

Scholarships, internships, and fellowships listed on ScholarXcel are sourced from public websites. We do not endorse any listed opportunity and are not responsible for:

• The accuracy, availability, or legitimacy of any listed opportunity.
• Any loss suffered as a result of applying to or relying on an opportunity listed on the platform.
• The content or practices of any third-party website linked from ScholarXcel.

Always verify opportunities directly with the issuing organisation before applying.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on ScholarXcel — including the CGPA backward-planning algorithm, interface design, copy, and branding — is owned by CISD Nigeria and protected under Nigerian copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the platform without our express written permission.

Your data (grades, uploaded documents, personal information) remains yours. We do not claim ownership over your academic records.

8. ScholarPoints & Rewards

ScholarPoints are awarded for platform engagement activities (referrals, social follows, check-ins). They have no monetary value, are non-transferable, and may be adjusted, expired, or discontinued at any time at our sole discretion. Points cannot be redeemed for cash.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@scholarxcel.ng. Upon deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

ScholarXcel is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, CISD Nigeria shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to academic decisions made based on CGPA projections provided by the platform.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of ScholarXcel after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
